Hi there!
Thank you for being here. We are delighted to get to share a little bit about us with you.
Jude’s is a worker-owned cooperative restaurant in Seattle’s Rainier Beach neighborhood. We have been operating as a worker-cooperative since 2021, but we have been open in some form under different ownership models since 2015. We serve cajun-creole inspired comfort food, classically inspired cocktails, local beer, and thoughtful wines. We are a passionate group of politically-minded individuals who are interested in creatively exploring what it means to eat and drink well, given vast disparities in wealth, power, and access that make up the world around us. We pride ourselves in being a community installation where people can meet, collaborate, and engage with one another over great food and drink.
Some of the purposes which drive our operations and ethos are:
To explore what it means to to maintain a life affirming work environment that sustains Collective members financially and engages them personally.
To create an environment where our guests are provided the best food and drinks possible, while encountering a worker-owned operation that is self-sustaining and profitable.
To provide a cooperative-economic model for businesses in South Seattle as a means to maintain and strengthen existing social networks and knit new networks with existing ones.
To provide a working environment in which all members and employees feel themselves empowered by the Collective to fully be themselves, to grow individually and collectively, and to feel accepted as who they are.
To engage in Mutual Aid: to participate in existing Mutual Aid networks and to make more visible existing networks, should they want to be visible.
We currently work closely with Long Haul Mutual Aid Kitchen, which cooks out of our space and to which we donate monthly. https://www.realchangenews.org/news/2024/09/11/long-haul-mutual-aid-kitchen-provides-solidarity-not-charity
To explore what it means to be operating a business in occupied Duwamish territory. (We currently pay Real Rent, and expect that to grow as we begin to not lose money.)

To explore what our relationship to the land is: this encompasses sustainability in regards to supplies, using local resources, and working with providers who respect for the land and the workers and creatures on that land.
Thanks for checking us out! To read nice words about us, check out some local press who have had good things to say recently:
